The future of cohesion policy was debated by the Members of the Special Committee on Policy Challenges and Budgetary Resources for a Sustainable European Union after 2013 (SURE) with EU Commissioners Johannes Hahn and László Andor.
During the discussion Professor Danuta Hübner underlined the importance of cohesion policy, as a catalyst and leverage for economic growth. This is a modern policy, which is directed towards the future, because it has all the tools for effective implementation of Europe 2020 strategy.
In the opinion of Professor Hübner, realization of the idea of integration is a process that requires not only achieving the goals and objectives, but first and foremost responsibility for Europe.
Report on the EU budget being prepared by Mr Salvador Garriga Pollieda will be presented in the SURE in April and in June at the plenary session in Strasbourg.
