Professor Danuta Hübner meet with Georgian Minister for Development and Infrastructure Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili. Main topics of the meeting were European aspirations of Georgia as well as current political and economic situation in the country. Also the current stage of the cooperation with European Parliament, European Commission, Eastern Partnership as well as ongoing negotiations between Georgia and the EU concerning the association were discussed. Minister Nikolaishvili invited Professor Hübner to pay a visit to Georgia.
Initiated in July negotiations on EU Association Agreement with Georgia replaced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement which came into force in 1999.
Georgia belongs to the Eastern Partnership. European Partnership is a part of eastern dimension of European Neighborhood Policy which also covers: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine.
Eastern Partnership was originally initiated in 2009 by Poland and Sweden.
